I'm in love with these vase mills. I saw them originally on one of my favorite blogs, Design Milk. I have a thing for salt and pepper mills. Maybe, when I have a bigger place, I can start a super sweet collection—and these will definitely make the cut, that's for sure.

i want this

real bad. a yellow one. all i want in the summer is a frozen treat. a lemon frozen treat, 99% of the time. i saw this recipe for lemon granita on pioneer woman's blog, and i think if i don't get one of these cute lil' things, i'm gonna rock that recipe all summer long.

holiday wish list

my parents are incredible gift givers. they shop year round and are very thoughtful in their purchases. i wish i was as good at gift giving as they were, but alas, i don't have the same patience for shopping. i'm totally wracking my brain to think of what to get them and my other friends and family this christmas. i did however think of a bunch of things i would like. so if you know anyone who is into kitchen gadgets and things of the like, these are pretty great gifts.

i want: pop savor from prepara

i need these in my life. how cute are they? i found these on thekitchn.com (one of my favorite food sites/blogs). i'm always sprinkling salt or red pepper flakes or sugar on something and this is such a great design. and would be darling gifts. i think i'll have to get some for myself and some of my foodie friends.

i want: oven thermometor

so my new oven is a gas one, which i've never used before. and i'm thinking i need one of these to make sure that the temperature is just right. has anyone used one of these before? i hear they are a necessity, pretty much no matter what oven you use. i really could have used one at my last place, that oven was quite wonky.

bake shop blueprint

so, when i was home for julia's wedding, i met up with my good friend tim, for lunch in oakland.

we had lunch and i told him about my bakery master plan so he told me about a bakery around the corner that was cool and of course, i wanted to check it out. you guys, it's my dream bakery! it's called bakesale betty.

it's in a great location, on telegraph, right by macarthur bart. it's close to some cool shops and it was pretty packed the whole time we were there. not to mention the super cute tables outside that are old re-painted ironing boards. my friend tonya said that they can be snooty sometimes, which is a downer, but other than that, it seems pretty much perfect.

we got some ginger cookies so i could compare them to the ones that i love and have made. we went outside and sat at one of the cute tables and the next thing i know, they bring us out this amazing lemon slush drink, for free.

then shortly after that, they bring us out what i thought was coffee cake, but turned out to be amazing banana bread. soooooo good! i am going to try to combine a few recipes to come up with something similar.

so, this is what i want my bakery to be like. just as yummy, just as fun. and, i might be trying out some banana bread recipes on willing taste testers.

i haven't baked in a while due to my out of townness and subsequent tiredness. so, i will post these pictures of what i intend to put my next cake in to display.




this lovely cake platter was a birthday gift from my good friend, broek. i've been wanting one of these for forever and she didn't even know it! anyway, shout out to my homegirl who blesses me with her great taste in gifts.

working the corner

julia and i have been obsessed with brownies, and more particularly corner pieces of brownies since we can remember. we always thought of making a pan that would make it possible. looks like someone beat us to the punch.


in my future bakery i plan to have a plentiful supply of corner piece brownies.
