ok, so i'm thinking about broek's suggestion that i start selling my goodies now, i want to know how many people would really buy them before i start investing in packaging etc. and would people be more likely to buy if they live near me or would you really buy things online for me to ship? please, if you ever read this blog, let me know what you think...
thanks,

I like to bake too much to buy baked goods other than when I'm in an actual shop...for the most part. That said, once I'm hooked on something, I will go through strange and unusual measures (if necessary) to have what I want. It's a good thing I never got hooked on drugs, I guess.
I would buy wonderful baked goods to send to people I love in a heartbeat. Good gifts. And if someone provided the service, it would be easy.
And IF one would say, offer gluten free goods, I would buy them up in a jiffy. Along with many others I know.
You know I would buy. Maybe not EVERY week, but definitely when I crave.
You could even start small and do a baked good of the month, where you post a goody and say "November is Pumpkin Bread Pudding month. Order by October 31 and you receive your order by November 7th." That way you could ship on one day, once a month so you aren't killing yourself every week. And have a larger batch of revenue.
Or you could just do it for holidays.
Not to be bossy, I'm just throwing out ideas. I really think you could get started in a small way on working to your big dream. =)
I'd be most likely to order to ship to friends as gifts. I think Broek's suggestion is excellent.
Have you thought about catering? My sister is planning her wedding and almost resolved to spend $300 just to be able to serve ICECREAM! Insane. Well, anyhoo, it would be like bringing the bakery to the people without having a real bakery yet.
I live in Texas and I enjoy your blog. If you had something that I absolutely had to try I'd order it pronto!
From a business standpoint, best to start local. Packaging comes second to ordering, so let people order, pay, and THEN when you build up enough to add the niceties, like shipping and packaging, go for it!
I am speaking for her when I say Rachel and I will take a dozen. NOW.
thanks for the feedback, guys. i will start researching this right away. i've already tried different ways to store cookies so they don't lose their texture.
Having tasted your baked goods, i would buy some from you... if I lived close by. Maybe it's just me, but baked goods across the country seems like it wouldn't taste as good as fresh from the oven. Maybe it is because planes always have stale tasting food. And, I never know exactly what I want until i am in front of a goody and know that it was meant to be in my belly.
fbomb knows what I want. a dozen..maybe a bakers dozen. you should do what we say.
I saw this site today and thought of you: http://www.miettecakes.com/ I liked how they started at the Farmer's Markets. Do you have those in SLC?
oh wow, tonya. that place looks amazing. i wish i could check it out in person! we have farmer's markets here, but only seasonally. maybe by next season i will be ready to start selling things there. that is a great idea.
Yes and Yes. I'm having a house warming party next Friday, wanna cater it? (You'd have to ship to Utah, so I'm not sure that would work, but if it could work- I'd be on it)
